Alexander Fleming One of the most important discovery was made by this scientific called Alexander Fleming. He was born on 6 August 1881 and died on 11 September 1955. He was bacteriologist and British Nobel Prize, famous for the discovery of penicillin. Born near Darvel, Ayr (now part of Strathclyde), Scotland, he trained at the St. Mary's School of Medicine, University Hospital of London, where he worked as a professor of bacteriology from 1928 to 1948. Fleming developed important research in the fields of bacteriology, chemotherapy and immunology. In 1922 he discovered lysozyme, an antiseptic present in tears, bodily secretions, albumin and certain plants. The discovery of penicillin happened accidentally in 1928 while his research on influenza.
